Is there is a difference between clear and metal braces?

They both work the same, however the main difference is in the way they look. Clear braces are ceramic and regular braces are metal.


How long does the initial braces appointment takes?

Our braces appointment usually is 60 - 90mins.

(1hr. – 1hr and 30mins)


Does it hurt to put braces on?

Putting on the braces does not hurt.  There might be a little bit of discomfort afterwards. The discomfort could be remedied by consuming ice water, ice cream, or soft foods.


How long does a treatment last for Expanders, Braces and Invisalign?

Estimated treatment time will vary from patient to patient. Different appliances can have similar treatment length. In this case it is better ask the doctor to give you a more accurate estimate date of treatment completion.


What is the difference between braces and Invisalign?

Braces are permanently attached, while Invisalign are removable.  Invisalign must be worn consistently between 20-22 hours per day.


Do I have to see my regular dentist while in treatment?

Yes, regular visits to your dentist for cleanings and check ups are encouraged during any orthodontic treatment.


How often are the appointments once in treatment?

Orthodontic appointments usually are between 4 to 6 weeks apart depending on the procedure being done.


Do I have to wear rubber bands?

Wearing rubber bands depends on your specific treatment needs, however about 50% of braces patients end up wearing them.


How often do I change my rubber bands?

Rubber bands are usually removed for eating, which means that on an average day these could be changed at least 3-4 times a day.


How long do I have to wear retainers?

Retainers are recommended to be worn day & night for 6 months after treatment. After that, the patient will wear them at night only until Doctor advices you to stop.


Can Invisalign be worn as a mouth guard?

Invisalign aligners are not mouth guards.  However, having the aligner on can protect the teeth. 

Please know that for any contact sports we do recommend mouth guards to be worn.


What is considered an emergency? (Broken Bracket, Poking Wire, Loose Appliances)

If something is hurting, pocking or loose, please call our office immediately to get an emergency appointment or use the 24-hour paging service to leave a message.  To ease the pain you can use wax. If you are out of wax, a piece of chewing gum can be used to cover the sharp area until you see Dr. Braun. If you are not experiencing discomfort, you may wait until the next business day to get an appointment.


Are there any food restrictions with braces?

Once the braces are on, patients should avoid hard or sticky foods.  We will provide you with instructions and guidelines once you get your new braces.


What foods can I eat with Invisalign?

Invisalign are designed to be removed before eating.  For this reason there aren’t any food restrictions.


What is the typical treatment cost?

Cost is based on estimated treatment length.  Please remember that no two patients are the same. Therefore cost may vary from patient to patient.

Do we take all insurances?

We accept most insurance programs and we will work with you by filing your claims and talking with insurances on your behalf.



How long does it take to hear back from insurance?

We usually receive an answer from insurances within 2-4 weeks.


What type of payment methods do we accept?

We accept all types of credit cards, checks, and cash. We also customize payment plans with no additional fees or interest.


Does Invisalign cost more?

In our office Invisalign and Braces fees are the same in most cases.  We like to give our patients the choice between both types of treatment.
